Go Outside
River Parks

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go outside and visit a park along the river.  Did you know there are over 200 parks in the city of Denver?  There are great places to spend time outside enjoying nature right where you live!  Nature is like a giant playground with rocks to climb on, fields to play in, bushes to hide in, and even rivers to splash around in, so Go Outside!

Go Explore
River Hikes

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go explore the outdoors.  Hiking is a great way to see new places and discover new adventures.  Every time you go outside, there are endless possibilities to explore new trails, find cool new bugs, discover a secret hideout, or even find signs of a beaver- right in the city!  There is adventure waiting around every corner, so Go Explore!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get creative and make art inspired by nature.  See what projects you can make using natural items and things found around your house.  Lots of things we put in the trash can be turned into something new with a little imagination!  Nature also offers great materials for making art such as sticks, leaves, shells, and even dirt, so go Get Creative!

Go Play

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go play games outside.  Nature is a perfect place to use your imagination and have fun, so Go Play!

Go Undercover

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to investigate the way people and nature are connected.  By investigating the nature in our backyards and figuring out how much energy and water we use every day, we can find ways to keep the South Platte River safe and clean.  Being a special agent takes creative thinking and problem solving…Good luck Going Undercover!

Get Involved

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get involved with events along the South Platte River.  Throughout the year there are several opportunities to visit the river and enjoy an outdoor activity.  SPREE’s events include Fishing for Kids, Art on the River, South Platte-River Sweep, the Mile High Mile, and Go Outside and Play Day.  During the summer, The Greenway Foundation hosts free concerts right next to the river at Confluence Park as well as other events to get you outside and exploring along the river, so go Get Involved!

Give Back

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help keep the nature where you live happy and healthy through small actions that matter.  Did you know that by picking up trash on the street you are saving it from getting into the South Platte River?  When it rains or snows, all the water from the streets flow into holes in the side of the road called storm drains.  This water then rushes through pipes underneath Denver and pours out directly into the South Platte River.  That means anything in the streets, even trash, will eventually get washed into the river!  It is everyone’s responsibility to take care of the nature where you live, so go Give Back!

Get Active

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get active in the outdoors!  Run, jump, bike, swim, fish, boat, skate…there are tons of ways to recreate in nature!  Whether you are enjoying a peaceful day fishing on a pond or riding your bike along the South Platte River, you are sure to find something you enjoy.  Get outside, have fun and Get Active!

Get Thinking

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get thinking and solve a mystery.  You will be given a series of clues that will help you unlock the mystery.  It could be a plant, animal, bird, tree, insect, arachnid (spiders), or amphibian found in Colorado.  These mysteries will take creative thinking and problem solving, so go Get Thinking!
